Following two separate incursions at his home on Wednesday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign is requesting Secret Service security.
According to a news statement from Kennedy’s campaign, private security guards from Gavin de Becker & Associates, who were hired by the campaign, quickly captured and detained the intruder until the arrival of law enforcement officials.
Kennedy, who began his campaign as a Democrat running against President Joe Biden, has now announced his candidacy as an independent.
The man who sought to meet Kennedy personally was held, according the press announcement.
The man who had been freed went back to Kennedy’s house, according to a news release. Kennedy was at home for both occurrences, it was mentioned. After his second visit, the intruder was once again taken into custody.
As stated in the release, the Secret Service received various alerts regarding the person.
Jonathan Macht, a 28-year-old Pacific Palisades, California resident, has been named as the arrested person by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to the New York Post.
Macht was detained on the grounds that he may have been trespassing. After his initial visit, an immediate protective order was put in place against him. The Post further stated that when he returned a second time, he was charged with violating the order.
For the third time, the Kennedy campaign has formally asked for Secret Service security. They requested this crucial security step in a letter addressed to Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security.

“Secret Service is aware that [Macht] has sent hundreds of emails to the candidate, and believes he is being followed by people who intend to kill him,” the letter said.
Regarding the security issue, the letter notes that if Macht is released, three people—all of whom have shown harmful behavior toward the candidate—will be free and able to persistently seek out interactions with the candidate.
“Given all that is known, please reconsider your decision to refuse Secret Service protection to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and allow protection to commence as soon as possible. As the law intends, the Secret Service can help protect the candidate and the electoral process, while also reducing risk to others in the candidate’s environment, including members of the general public,” the letter said.
“Every presidential administration for 55 years has afforded early protection to candidates who requested it. The Biden administration is the sole outlier,“ the release said.
The letter recounted an incident involving Adrian Aispuro that happened in September.
At a Kennedy event, a man was detained for possessing guns while feigning to be a U.S. marshal. According to KNBC-TV, he was instantly detained on suspicion of possessing a weapon and impersonating a US marshal.
In a new development, according to ABC, Kennedy’s campaign manager Dennis Kucinich wrote an open letter to Biden.
“Although it is a well-known historical fact, apparently, in your case, it bears repeating: Mr. Kennedy’s uncle, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated. Mr. Kennedy’s father, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated while a presidential candidate,” the letter said.
