The Dixie Chicks’ original member Laura Lynch passed away on Saturday in a head-on collision in Texas.
A tragic incident on a highway near El Paso claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman instantly. According to TMZ reports, a car that was trying to pass her struck it. The other car’s driver was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Regretfully, Lynch, the woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Along with Robin Lynn Macy, Martie Erwin, and Emily Erwin, Lynch was a founding member of The Dixie Chicks in 1990. Before departing the group in 1993, she helped to create three albums that were successful.
She started out as a bassist for a well-known country music group before switching to lead vocals and proving her abilities on the group’s third album, “Shouldn’t a Told You That.” She left room for Natalie Maines to take over as lead vocalist in 1995.
Lynch gave up playing in the band and adopted a quiet life. According to a New York Post report, she spent her leisure time perfecting her oil painting techniques and didn’t regret leaving the Dixie Chicks because she was tired.
Feeling nostalgic, she said, “I would go through it all over again just to relive those moments.”
Following Lynch’s departure, the band saw tremendous success in 1998 when their hugely successful album “Wide Open Spaces” was released. Two more hit albums, “Fly” (1998) and “Home” (2002), which both sold millions of copies, came after this.

The band gained notoriety in the last few years after Maines came out against the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. She spoke of her “ashame” at George W. Bush’s Texas roots. The group also changed their name to “The Chicks” amid the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
