BREAKING: Dems TURN on Trump Impeacher!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Initially, four Democratic members were listed as co-sponsors of the articles. That support collapsed quickly. All four backed out, claiming they were misled into believing the move had the blessing of party leadership. One lawmaker’s office claimed they were added to the bill after a “vague one-on-one conversation” without their staff even being informed.

Adding to the drama, Thanedar announced his impeachment stunt just hours after a new primary challenger entered the race against him—a curious coincidence that’s raising questions. Many in D.C. believe this was less about principle and more about politics. One House Democrat called the move “self-serving” and questioned its sincerity: “not a genuine effort to rein in the president.”

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), a senior figure on the House Judiciary Committee, made it clear Thanedar’s actions aren’t gaining traction with leadership. “I don’t think so,” Himes said when asked if party leaders were taking the impeachment seriously. “There is a long, long, long way to go before the concept of impeachment is on the table.”

Even far-left Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a member of the January 6 committee, appeared skeptical. “The fact that people have withdrawn … suggests people wanted to think through, collectively, the timing of it,” he admitted.

Behind the scenes, Democrats aren’t hiding their frustration. One anonymous member reportedly called the move a “self-own” that “fundamentally undermines our capacity to continue to have a conversation with people we need to win over.” Another added bluntly, “The guy got impeached twice, how did it work out for us?”

The situation got so messy that veteran Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) had to step in and remind colleagues to communicate clearly before adding names to legislation. “I don’t think any of us want to learn that their boss was added to a bill that’s been introduced from a Google Alert,” his office said in an internal email reported by Politico.

Despite the exodus of support and criticism from within his own ranks, Thanedar is standing firm. In a statement to Axios, he said, “My constituents elected me to do what I think is right and I felt I had to introduce articles of impeachment in response to the President’s many crimes and unconstitutional activity.”

“These were articles that I drafted, without any other members. As more offices analyze the articles, I hope more will come on board, and I’m grateful for my colleague Rep. Al Green’s support and co-sponsorship.”

It’s a lonely hill Thanedar seems eager to die on. While the impeachment effort has virtually zero chance of success, it has succeeded in creating division within an already fractured Democrat caucus—and highlighting how obsessed some on the Left remain with Donald Trump.

Whether this gambit boosts Thanedar’s fading political fortunes or speeds up his exit remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: even his own party doesn’t want anything to do with this latest impeachment circus.
