A Massive Increase in Coast Guard Patrols
Homan revealed that the administration has tripled Coast Guard patrols to intercept cartel shipments before they ever reach U.S. shores.
“Okay, they are going more maritime. We knew they would. That’s why we’ve increased our Coast Guard patrols three times, three times more than we have in the past. So the Coast Guard answered that call,” Homan said.
While stopping the flow of drugs is critical, Homan emphasized that cutting off the cartel’s financial power is the ultimate goal.
Cartels Declared Terrorist Organizations
Trump isn’t just fighting the cartels—he’s waging an all-out war against them. By officially designating these drug traffickers as terrorist organizations, his administration has gained the legal authority to destroy them where it hurts most—their bank accounts.
Homan laid it out in stark terms.
“You have killed more Americans than every terrorist organization in the world combined. You are now a terrorist organization,” he declared.
The designation extends beyond cartel leaders. Anyone caught aiding or abetting these organizations will be treated as accomplices to terrorism.
“So word out to anybody that assists them, anybody sells your drugs down the street, anybody [that] assist[s] these cartels in any way you are helping a terrorist organization and the weight of the world coming down on you,” Homan warned.
Taking the Fight Worldwide
Cartels don’t just operate in Mexico. Their financial networks stretch across 43 countries, where they hide billions of dollars in illicit funds. Homan made it clear that the administration isn’t stopping at the U.S.-Mexico border—the crackdown will extend worldwide.
“You put them out of business, you take their money away. They can’t bribe Mexican officials. They can’t bribe anybody without money to have no power. We’re not just going to attack the Mexico cartel. We’re going to attack them worldwide,” Homan declared.

Among the cartels targeted are some of the most dangerous and ruthless criminal organizations in the world, including Tren de Aragua, MS-13, the Sinaloa Cartel, and New Generation Cartel of Jalisco. Without their vast financial resources, these once-powerful cartels will crumble.
The End of the Cartels?
With these aggressive measures in place, Trump’s administration is making it clear: the days of unchecked cartel power are over. By stopping drug shipments, blocking maritime smuggling, and eliminating the financial lifelines these criminals rely on, the Trump administration is dealing a decisive blow to the world’s most violent drug syndicates.
Homan and Trump’s message is simple—the cartel’s reign of terror is coming to an end. And for the thousands of Americans losing their lives to cartel-driven drug trafficking, that can’t happen soon enough.
