A major win for election integrity just dropped in New York—where a court has officially shut down Democrats’ attempt to allow illegal immigrants and noncitizens to vote in local elections.
Back in 2021, as Bill de Blasio’s time as New York City mayor came to a close, the city council quietly approved a law that would have handed voting rights in municipal elections to over 800,000 noncitizens. Neither de Blasio nor current Mayor Eric Adams bothered to veto it. As a result, the law took effect in 2022 without much resistance from the city’s leadership.

But while city officials looked the other way, conservatives sounded the alarm—and they weren’t bluffing.
Former NYC Council Republican minority leader Joe Borelli, along with other Republicans, took the issue to court. And the verdict is in: the state’s highest court ruled 6-1 to strike the law down.
