At the center of Devine’s narrative is a 115-page “assessment” created by a group of active and retired FBI agents who admit they served under the hyper-politicized Biden-era leadership. That era was plagued with everything Americans despised about the modern FBI: DEI mandates, political investigations, Trump-focused witch hunts, retaliatory probes, and a public trust level that cratered to historic lows.
Their report reads more like a tantrum than an analysis. The complaints include:
– Patel is supposedly “inexperienced.”
– Bongino is labeled “a clown.”
– Both men post too frequently on social media.
– And both refuse to bow to the internal culture that helped drag the FBI into scandal after scandal.
One of the most hysterical “examples” in the report accuses Patel of stepping off an FBI aircraft wearing a raid jacket with both Velcro patches attached — something treated as if it were a national security emergency. Another gripe claims Patel wrongfully “took credit” following the arrest of the Kirk assassin. Devine framed these as bombshells, though they read more like petty workplace sniping.
Another so-called controversy involves Patel demanding answers after internal discussions about his firearm credential leaked from FBI Academy personnel. According to the report, Patel wanted polygraphs conducted to identify the leaker. In any serious intelligence organization, leaks of internal security matters would trigger immediate discipline. But in Devine’s telling, holding leakers accountable is “punitive.”
Buried deep inside her article, however, is a stunning confession from her own sources — an admission that undermines the entire anti-Patel narrative. One source concedes that “Trump Derangement Syndrome remains alive and well under left-leaning factions embedded within the ranks of the FBI.”
Additional revelations include claims that many agents openly voice disdain for the president, that FBI office televisions are routinely tuned to MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) and CNN, and that the Bureau’s recruitment push favored left-wing applicants, particularly from education-based pipelines.
FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson also fired back at Devine’s report, insisting that the reformers are being attacked precisely because they’re succeeding.
Williamson stated:
“Kash and Dan took over an agency with approval rating below 40%. Knowing that, they came in as disrupters and are choosing to do things differently. Of course that’s going to receive criticism from the old guard and outside pundits. That’s to be expected.
What’s more surprising here is to see the New York Post elevating a dossier of anonymous complaints from current and ex-FBI personnel as some form of gospel.
