According to data acquired by CNN, Commander, President Biden’s German Shepherd, has nipped American Secret Service agents 24 times at different places, including the White House.
The records that were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request show how the Commander’s actions posed a risk to many White House employees at work. Employees and Secret Service personnel had to modify their routines in order to avoid the dog’s outbursts.

“The recent dog bites have challenged us to adjust our operational tactics when Commander is present – please give lots of room,” In an email sent to their staff in June 2023, the Secret Service’s Presidential Protective Division was led by an unidentified assistant special agent. Agents received notice that they “must be creative to ensure our own personal safety.”
An unidentified Secret Service technician reported an event in October 2022 and stated that they were “worried about the family pets behavior escalating and that … something worse was going to happen to others.”
The White House grounds, Biden’s Delaware residence, a Nantucket vacation house, and Camp David were among the locations where the Secret Service recorded incidents. In ten different assaults, agents needed medical attention.

The dog is said to have attacked other White House staff members as well, according to prior reports, therefore the Secret Service files do not contain all of the Commander’s claimed bites. Following the Daily Mail’s acquisition of images showing the dog attacking a White House gardener, at least one incident was verified.
