Billy Joel, one of America’s most beloved performers, has been quietly battling a serious brain condition for months. News of his struggle rattled fans across the country, but his family has now shared a surprising update that no one expected.
Back in May, the “Piano Man” stunned the music world when he disclosed that doctors diagnosed him with normal pressure hydrocephalus—a brain condition that, in his words, had been “exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance.”
At 76 years old, Joel was forced to cancel all of his planned concerts through mid-2026 so he could focus on treatment and recovery. Many feared this could mark the end of live performances for the Long Island legend.
