Subpoenas, Surveillance, and a Secret Recording
At the center of the controversy is Susie Wiles, who served as campaign manager for Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential race and is now White House Chief of Staff.
While she was still a private citizen in 2022 and 2023, the FBI — operating under Special Counsel Jack Smith — subpoenaed her phone records. The subpoenas reportedly captured metadata tied to every call she placed: numbers dialed, dates, times, and duration.
