But the establishment’s efforts to undermine Kennedy didn’t stop at rigging the primary rules. In a further demonstration of their hostility, the Biden administration repeatedly denied Kennedy’s requests for Secret Service protection, despite clear historical precedent. In March 2023, Kennedy announced on Twitter that his campaign had been left without Secret Service protection for an astonishing 88 days after several formal requests. This denial raised eyebrows, especially considering Kennedy’s personal history: his father, Bobby Kennedy, and his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, were both assassinated during their political careers.
The situation worsened when Judicial Watch obtained evidence through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request showing that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas personally declined to provide Kennedy with protection. Despite at least three formal requests, the Biden administration turned a blind eye to the threats against Kennedy, a move many saw as deliberate political punishment.
Kennedy, boxed out of the primary by the DNC’s maneuvering, eventually ran as an independent. The Democratic Party labeled these tactics “democracy,” a stark irony for many observers. Then, in a move that shocked the political world, Kennedy officially endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election, citing his concern for free speech, opposition to the war in Ukraine, and his battle against what he called “the war on our children.”
Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump sparked backlash, but it also signaled his full rejection of the Democratic establishment. The Biden administration, it seems, was not content to let Kennedy’s independent run go unpunished. Recently, an old investigation into Kennedy’s alleged involvement in a whale incident from two decades ago was suddenly reopened, leading to accusations of political retribution.
According to KOAT, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is investigating Kennedy for allegedly decapitating a dead whale carcass and transporting it home 20 years ago. Kennedy addressed the issue during a campaign event in Arizona, stating he received a letter from the National Marine Fisheries Services, an organization under NOAA, informing him that he was under investigation for the decades-old incident.
A spokesperson for NOAA confirmed to CNN that the investigation into Kennedy is ongoing but declined to provide further details, citing the agency’s policy on open investigations. “It is long standing NOAA practice not to comment on open investigations,” the spokesperson said.
The story of the whale incident resurfaced after Kennedy suspended his presidential campaign. A 2012 interview with his daughter, Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy, was recirculated, where she recalled her father using a chainsaw to cut off the head of a dead whale on a beach near their Cape Cod home.
Many conservatives view this renewed investigation as part of a broader pattern of retribution against those who challenge the Democratic establishment. The Biden administration has faced mounting accusations of politically motivated investigations and retaliation, especially following its treatment of Trump supporters. To many, this latest action against Kennedy is just another example of the Democrats’ increasingly authoritarian grip on power.
As the 2024 election approaches, one thing is clear: the Biden administration and the DNC are willing to go to great lengths to secure power, leaving Republicans and independents alike questioning the future of American democracy. It is time for Republicans to stand up, hold the Biden administration accountable, and push back against these blatant abuses of power.
