A political firestorm is brewing in Washington after House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer called on the Justice Department to investigate what he described as a potential “massive cover-up” involving former President Joe Biden’s alleged use of an autopen to approve official government actions.
In a scathing 100-page report released Tuesday, the Republican-led Oversight Committee accused Biden’s top aides of concealing the president’s mental decline while relying heavily on a mechanical signature device — the autopen — to execute major decisions, sign pardons, and authorize policies without Biden’s direct participation.
“Faced with the cognitive decline of President Joe Biden, White House aides — at the direction of the inner circle — hid the truth about the former president’s condition and fitness for office,” the report stated, according to Fox News.
The findings suggest a stunning breach of presidential protocol. The committee alleged that the Biden White House operated under a “haphazard documentation process,” raising doubts over whether the former president personally approved dozens of pardons and executive decisions.
