Biden to Mourners: “I’m Smarter Than Most of You!”

Former President Joe Biden raised eyebrows during a memorial service honoring civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, delivering a speech that quickly sparked backlash after he appeared to insult members of the audience while recounting a series of familiar personal stories.

The memorial, held in Chicago, Illinois, brought together several high-profile Democratic figures. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were present alongside Biden, while Hillary Clinton and First Lady Jill Biden also attended the ceremony. The gathering was meant to celebrate the life and legacy of Jackson, a longtime figure in American civil rights politics who passed away last month at the age of 84 after battling progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare and debilitating neurodegenerative disease.

During his remarks, Biden launched into several personal anecdotes that have become familiar fixtures in his speeches over the years. Among them was a story about his time working as a lifeguard in Delaware during his youth, a tale that critics say he has repeated numerous times in public appearances.
