Trump greeted the Saudi leader outside the White House surrounded by proud American service members. Uniformed troops lined the entrance. Military aircraft thundered over the capital as F 35 and F 16 fighters swept across the sky.¹ Cannon fire rolled across Washington.
Inside the Oval Office, Trump set the tone. Warm. Confident. Respectful.
“It’s an honor to be your friend and it’s an honor that you’re here,” Trump told MBS.²
This reception stood in absolute contrast to Biden’s approach. In 2020 Biden pledged to make Saudi Arabia a “pariah.”³ He spent years releasing intelligence reports meant to embarrass Riyadh and refused meetings with the Crown Prince.
And when Biden finally did crawl to Saudi Arabia during the gas price meltdown, he delivered the infamous fist bump that satisfied no one.⁴
Trump reminded the world that respect brings results.
A Six Hundred Billion Deal Turns Into Nearly One Trillion
The moment the two leaders sat down, Trump started talking business.
“You’ve agreed to invest 600 billion dollars into the United States and because he’s my friend, he might make it a trillion, but I’m going to have to work on him,” Trump said Tuesday.⁵
The Crown Prince barely waited.
Minutes later he confirmed the new figure.
“Today and tomorrow, we are going to announce that we are going to increase that 600 billion dollars to almost 1 trillion of investment, real investment and real opportunity in many areas,” bin Salman said.⁶
Trump captured the magnitude perfectly.
“That’s great. We’re doing numbers that nobody’s ever done. And in all fairness, if you didn’t see potential in the U.S., you wouldn’t be doing it.”
This is not theoretical money. This is Saudi capital flowing into American factories, technology firms, infrastructure, energy, and artificial intelligence. It is real jobs for American families. It is a global vote of confidence.
And it only happened because Trump rebuilt trust Biden destroyed.
Biden’s Four Year Meltdown Created A Diplomatic Disaster
Biden campaigned on turning the Saudi government into global villains. During a 2020 debate he attacked them, saying “There’s very little social redeeming value of the present government in Saudi Arabia.”⁷ He threatened to cut off weapons sales. He vowed to isolate them.
Once in office he immediately reversed himself with a six hundred and fifty million dollar weapons sale in 2021.⁸ Then he went to Jeddah in 2022 begging for more oil after inflation crushed Americans.
The result was embarrassing. The fist bump photo went viral as a symbol of a president with no leverage. Human rights groups blasted him.⁹ The Saudis refused to increase oil production and instead coordinated output cuts. China stepped in to build deeper ties.
Biden managed to offend everyone and accomplish nothing.
Trump Delivers Concrete Results Across The Middle East
During Trump’s visit earlier this year, America secured more than two trillion dollars in economic commitments from across the region.¹⁰ Saudi Arabia pledged six hundred billion. Qatar delivered a one point two trillion economic exchange deal. The United Arab Emirates added two hundred billion.
That was before the Crown Prince added the additional four hundred billion this week.
Major American companies are already moving. Bechtel will develop new airport terminals at King Salman International Airport.¹¹ Alphabet is building a global artificial intelligence hub in Saudi Arabia that will expand American innovation.¹² Oracle is advancing new cloud and AI cooperation.¹³
Saudi Arabia is placing its bets on the United States because Trump has restored confidence.
They believe in his pro growth agenda. They trust his leadership. They know he delivers.
Biden offered lectures. Trump delivered prosperity.
That is why nearly one trillion dollars is now headed toward American workers.
