The medal, bestowed by President Joe Biden, has ignited a firestorm of criticism from conservatives across the nation.
Soros, a long-time financier of progressive causes, was among 19 individuals honored with the prestigious award. Other recipients included former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actor Michael J. Fox, and science educator Bill Nye. Several posthumous honors were also granted, including to Robert F. Kennedy Sr. and George Romney. Soros, now 94, did not attend the ceremony, with his son Alex accepting the medal on his behalf.
