Audi Brought Trump a Georgia Factory. Porsche Said No.

President Donald Trump’s push to bring automobile manufacturing back to the United States has placed two of Germany’s most recognizable luxury brands on sharply different paths.

Audi is reportedly preparing to invest billions in a new manufacturing operation in Georgia, potentially creating thousands of American jobs. Porsche, meanwhile, is defending its decision to continue producing vehicles overseas despite the additional costs associated with U.S. import tariffs.

Both automakers belong to the Volkswagen Group. Both sell premium vehicles to American consumers. And both face the financial consequences of Washington’s trade policies.
