In a jaw-dropping ruling Monday, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with a federal judge’s controversial decision forcing the Trump Administration to bring back an alleged MS-13 gang member deported to El Salvador — despite national security concerns and warnings from officials.
The administration’s attempt to halt the court-ordered return of Kilmar Abrego — a suspected MS-13 operative with ties to human trafficking — was denied by a three-judge panel. That same panel went even further, blasting the Justice Department for disciplining one of its own lawyers who dared to apologize in court.

The dispute stems from a fiery hearing last Friday, when U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, an Obama-appointed judge based in Maryland, ordered the Biden-era DOJ to reverse the deportation and return Abrego to the United States. According to her, Abrego was sent to El Salvador’s infamous CECOT prison without proper legal authority.
