The issue ignited last week when Tim McBride, Delaware’s newest representative, announced that he now identifies as Sarah and prefers to wear women’s clothing. This has led several female members of Congress to call for a ban on men using women’s restrooms, a request that Speaker Mike Johnson addressed with clarity during a recent press conference. He declared, “Let me be unequivocally clear. A man is a man, and a woman is a woman. And a man cannot become a woman… We’re not going to have men in women’s bathrooms.”

It’s a simple statement, rooted in what most Americans would call common sense. After all, up until now, the idea that men and women should use restrooms designated for their sex was largely unchallenged. But in Congress, as in much of the rest of the country, common sense seems increasingly hard to come by. The ban on men in women’s bathrooms, in fact, seems to be the latest point of contention between the left and the majority of Americans.

Enter Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who unwittingly undermined the entire argument against the ban when he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Representative-elect McBride was welcome to use the restroom in his office. Apparently, Fetterman didn’t grasp that the point of the ban was to ensure McBride—who now identifies as a woman—uses restrooms meant for men. It’s a classic example of leftist logic in action.

But AOC wasn’t far behind in making her own public statement on the issue. In a bizarre and frankly alarming remark, she claimed that Republicans supporting the restroom ban were “endangering women. They’re endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It’s gross.”

Let that sink in for a moment. According to AOC, preventing men from entering women’s restrooms is somehow a danger to women and girls. Anyone searching for logic or reason in this statement will quickly realize it’s an exercise in futility. The concept that keeping men out of women’s restrooms puts women at risk is, frankly, absurd.

If you thought the Left might start to backpedal after seeing the public backlash against their radical LGBTQ agenda during the last election, think again. AOC’s latest comments, along with Fetterman’s brain-dead take, show that they’re not learning from past mistakes. Instead, they seem determined to double down on their woke madness, regardless of the cost to their credibility.

In the end, it seems that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her allies in Congress will continue to push the envelope on culture wars. But if they keep going down this path, they may find that the American people, weary of the left’s incessant drive for social upheaval, are ready to reject them once and for all. The more they talk, the more it becomes clear: AOC and her allies are losing touch with reality, and they’re dragging the Democrat Party down with them.
