Anti-Trump Officer Now in Solitary

An Air Force officer who publicly called for President Donald Trump’s impeachment while wearing his military uniform is reportedly facing weeks of isolation as he awaits a court-martial, raising questions about the military’s handling of political expression and pretrial detention.

Major Jason Watson, 40, a longtime Air Force officer and U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, has been held in pretrial confinement since August 18. His detention follows a series of public actions in which he called for the removal of Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

The case has drawn attention because it involves a commissioned military officer whose political statements have become central to a legal proceeding that could end his military career. Watson’s defense team is challenging the severity of the charges, while questions have also emerged about the conditions under which he is being held.
