AMERICA DECIDES: Trump’s Cabinet Gets a Thumbs Up!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

For Republicans, the mood was overwhelmingly optimistic. Over half of GOP respondents said they were “excited” about Trump’s re-election, and an additional 41% shared that they were “optimistic.” Only 5% reported having negative feelings, a striking contrast to the reactions from Democrats. Interestingly, the survey found that even 10% of Democrat respondents felt “motivated” to support Trump’s second term, suggesting a potential shift in attitudes among some members of the opposition.

The poll also measured public opinion on several of Trump’s Cabinet nominees. Most of the individuals included in the survey received majority support, with one exception: U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, who withdrew from consideration for attorney general.

Senator Marco Rubio emerged as the most popular nominee, with 46% of respondents approving of his selection compared to just 30% who opposed it. Meanwhile, 23% said they lacked enough information to form an opinion. Rubio’s strong showing highlights his appeal to a broad segment of the population, including independents.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has become a prominent figure after running an independent presidential campaign before endorsing Trump, was another standout pick. With 48% of respondents expressing a positive opinion of his nomination for Health and Human Services secretary, Kennedy garnered the highest raw approval rating among those surveyed. His net approval of 12 percentage points underscores his broad recognition and appeal, as only 16% of respondents were unsure about their opinion of him.

The poll also examined public sentiment toward Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence, and Pete Hegseth, his choice for defense secretary. Despite facing coordinated smear campaigns, both nominees received net positive ratings.

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, gained support from 42% of respondents, with 33% disapproving. A notable 23% remained undecided. Gabbard’s opposition to endless military interventions has made her a target of accusations, including being labeled a “Russian asset” by her detractors.

Hegseth also received a warm reception, with 38% expressing support for his nomination compared to 34% who disapproved. Like Gabbard, he faced baseless attacks, including a debunked sexual assault allegation. Police dismissed the claim almost immediately after investigating. Despite these attempts to tarnish his reputation, Hegseth has maintained steady public approval, with 28% of respondents unsure about their opinion.

The YouGov/CBS News poll paints a clear picture of public opinion on Trump’s second-term preparations: Americans are largely supportive of his transition efforts and Cabinet nominees. While some Democrats and media figures continue to push negative narratives, the survey reveals that Trump’s plans resonate with a broad swath of the population. With figures like Rubio, Kennedy, Gabbard, and Hegseth earning positive marks, the groundwork for a successful administration seems firmly in place.
