A disturbing picture is emerging out of Washington, D.C., after two National Guard members were shot in what authorities now believe could be a targeted ambush. Late Wednesday evening, multiple media outlets confirmed the identity of the suspected gunman — and the details are already raising serious questions about the Biden administration’s immigration and vetting failures.
Shortly after 7 p.m. ET, CBS News reported new information that law enforcement officials had verified the suspect’s identity. According to their sources, the shooter is a 29-year-old Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who first entered the United States in 2021.
CBS stated:
“Multiple law enforcement officials tell CBS News the suspect in the shooting of the two National Guard members is 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the U.S. in 2021.”
This confirmation immediately set off alarms, given that his entry year aligns directly with the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan — a disaster that even Democrats have struggled to defend.
