Texas Governor Greg Abbott is pulling no punches after state House Democrats fled the Lone Star State in a desperate attempt to derail a redistricting vote that could hand Republicans five new seats in the upcoming midterms.
Rather than stay and do their jobs, over 50 Texas Democrat lawmakers boarded flights to Chicago in a stunt that’s now being branded a cowardly escape to block the Republican-led vote.
Gov. Abbott, clearly fed up with the theatrics, made his stance crystal clear. In a fiery statement, he declared: “Real Texans don’t flee from a battle.”
He continued, “Rather than doing their job and voting on urgent legislation affecting the lives of all Texans, they have fled Texas to deprive the House of the quorum necessary to meet and conduct business.”
