Her remarks come amid ongoing speculation about the Obamas’ marriage, as the couple has rarely been seen together in recent months.

“Being married to the president of the United States [is a] thing that none of us kind of banked on. We knew Barack was smart and ambitious, but, you know,” Michelle said.

She revealed that her brother had to convince her to support Barack’s bid for the White House. “You talked me into supporting his run,” she told Robinson.

“And he [Barack] was smart enough to know that he needed to come to you and sell you on the idea. Because I was definitely like, no, no way,” she added, per The Post.

Michelle, who has never hidden her distaste for politics, also took a moment to recall her early frustrations with Barack’s habit of running late. When they first started dating at a Chicago law firm, punctuality was not his strong suit.

“Barack had to adjust to what ‘on time’ was,” she said. “You know, I’ve got this husband who, when it’s time to leave, he’s getting up and going to the bathroom. And I was like, dude, like three o’clock departure means you’ve done all that. It’s like, don’t start looking for your glasses, you know, at the three o’clock departure.” Despite the annoyance, she admitted he has improved over their 30-year marriage.

In the same episode, her brother discussed his own divorce while the siblings reflected on their childhood on Chicago’s South Side. Meanwhile, Michelle shared her ongoing frustration with Barack’s reluctance to engage in deeper conversations with his friends, even after hours on the golf course.

“My husband is like, ‘what are you talking about all day?’” she said during a conversation with writer and actress Issa Rae in the second episode of her podcast, which was released the same day.

Michelle also pointed out that Barack “does not fully understand” the complexity of female friendships.

As rumors about the Obamas’ marriage continue to swirl, speculation intensified when reports claimed Barack had been linked to actress Jennifer Aniston. The “Friends” star, however, shut down those claims during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, stating she had only “met him once.”

“I know Michelle more than him,” she clarified.

Adding fuel to the fire, Barack attended a Los Angeles Clippers game courtside on Wednesday—but without Michelle. Instead, he was seen sitting with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife, Connie Snyder, appearing to third-wheel the couple.

Notably, Barack also attended President Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January alone, while Michelle refused to attend, making clear her disdain for the former president.

She was also missing from Barack’s side at the funeral of President Jimmy Carter in Washington, D.C., reportedly choosing to remain in Hawaii for an “extended holiday vacation.”

Despite the persistent speculation about their marriage, the couple publicly celebrated Valentine’s Day last month with affectionate social media posts, The Post noted.

After Michelle announced her decision to skip Trump’s inauguration, a source close to her revealed she had no interest in “faking a smile for someone she still views as a threat to American democracy.”
