Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is now publicly accusing her of fabricating stories about her childhood.
“She’s selling more malarkey,” Markle Jr. said.
In the series, Meghan describes her upbringing as rough, claiming she was a “latchkey kid” who grew up eating fast food and TV dinners.
“It feels like such a different time, but that was so normal with the microwavable kids’ meals,” Meghan says in the show.
But her half-brother isn’t buying it.
“That’s just another one of the malarkey stories she sold to the royal family for sympathy,” Markle Jr. told TalkTV. “We weren’t poor. She didn’t have to rub two nickels together at Sizzler’s salad bar.”
Markle Jr. is estranged from Meghan, as is their father, Thomas Markle Sr. But that hasn’t stopped him from speaking out.
“The entire world knows how she treated her family, especially her father, who gave her everything,” he said. “That’s why nobody’s buying it.”
During one episode, Meghan prepares for a tea party with actress Mindy Kaling and reminisces about her childhood eating Taco Bell and Jack in the Box.
Kaling seemed surprised, saying, “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box.”
But that wasn’t the only moment that raised eyebrows. Meghan also claimed she no longer goes by her maiden name.
“It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” she told Kaling.
She doubled down on the claim, saying, “You have kids, and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.’”
Markle Jr. wasn’t having it.
“That’s just weird,” he remarked, pointing out that Meghan’s attempt at rebranding herself as ‘Meghan Sussex’ felt artificial.
The show attempts to present Meghan as a domestic expert, but even her own brother calls it a farce.
“She didn’t cook anything for anybody ever growing up,” he scoffed.
Audiences seem to agree. With Love, Meghan has been trashed by critics and currently holds a dismal 2.7 out of 10 rating on IMDB.

The Guardian’s TV critic, Stuart Heritage, called it “pointless,” saying Meghan seemed “joyless” as she performed tasks alongside her celebrity friends.
“With Love, Meghan doesn’t just represent the hard launch of the Duchess of Sussex’s new career as a Martha Stewart-style lifestyle inspo guru; it might also be the final thing she makes for Netflix,” Heritage wrote.
Meghan is attempting to pivot into a new career as a lifestyle influencer, but the effort is off to a disastrous start.
Rather than winning over audiences, her Netflix project is exposing the cracks in her carefully curated image. And with her own family calling her out, it’s clear that Meghan’s attempt to rewrite her past isn’t going over well.
Will she be able to recover? Or is this the final chapter in her Hollywood reinvention?
