The debate intensified when Lovett admitted that in certain cases, he supports minors undergoing life-altering transgender procedures without their parents’ consent.
“I don’t think parents should get shut out. There are rare exceptions to that,” Lovett admitted. “Look, we all believe that parents should have the decisions over their children, but we also recognize that some parents do such a bad f****** job, that the kids are in danger.”
The left-wing podcaster then ranted about bad parenting, suggesting that some mothers and fathers are so terrible that they shouldn’t be allowed to prevent their children from undergoing medical procedures like gender transitions.
“Some parents are f’ing terrible,” Lovett blurted out.
This radical stance reveals why Democrats are in freefall with voters. The idea that the government or activist doctors should have more control over children than their own parents is a losing position. And Maher didn’t hold back in calling out the absurdity of Lovett’s arguments.
Lovett even compared irreversible transgender surgeries to heart operations, dismissing the growing number of people who later regret undergoing these procedures.
“There are also really important surgeries that people get for their heart, and they go wrong, and somebody dies. And nobody says, ‘We must stop the cardiologists.’ No one says, ‘We must stop the surgeons,’” Lovett argued.
Maher was floored by the ridiculous comparison.
“Wow. That’s your analogy?” he shot back.
Maher then pointed to a New York Times report that exposed how a doctor refused to publish a 10-year study on puberty blockers because the findings didn’t fit the pro-trans narrative. The study showed that chemical castration had no real impact on mental health improvement, completely debunking one of the Left’s core talking points.
“So in other words, it came out not the way you wanted the study to come out — not what you said, that, ‘Oh, all the studies show’ — no,” Maher noted.

Yet, instead of following the science, Democrats continue to push their radical ideology, even when the data proves them wrong.
“Some people, yes, [trans surgeries] are the right thing,” Maher acknowledged. “But to take that risk at that age, before you know s*** about anything — and again, this was a very long study, very thorough. And they wouldn’t release it, because it came out with the wrong conclusion.”
Maher’s message to Democrats is clear: if they keep siding against parents and pushing extreme policies, they will keep losing. But will the Left wake up before it’s too late?
