Now, Democrats and their allies in the media are crying foul. They argue that DOGE—operating under the authority of the executive branch—is acting as a “shadow government” engaged in a coup.
Senator John Kennedy joined Fox News host Martha MacCallum to expose the left’s real agenda. He explained that their attacks on Musk and DOGE are nothing more than a smokescreen to distract from Trump’s legitimate efforts to curb wasteful spending.
“I was paying especially close attention to what the president had to say about reviewing spending. I think it would be fair to say President Trump is dug in like a tick,” Kennedy stated.
Kennedy reminded viewers that Trump had campaigned on empowering Musk to slash government spending, and that reviewing executive branch expenditures is well within the President’s authority.
“He’s going to continue. He ran on this issue and said ‘If I am elected president, I would review the spending.’ Now, I don’t know how you review the spending without reviewing the spending. No fair-minded person can doubt the president of the United States has the authority to review the spending in the executive branch. He has delegated that authority to Elon Musk,” Kennedy added.
Kennedy further exposed what he called “spending porn,” a reference to the hidden billions in taxpayer dollars that Democrats have allegedly used to fund leftist projects under the radar.
“A lot of my Democratic colleagues and most of the members of the tofu crowd are very upset. They’re screaming like Musk stole their dog or something,” Kennedy quipped. “But one thing they are not talking about is what Mr. Musk is finding. Just at the USAID, he found hundreds of millions, maybe billions of dollars’ worth of spending porn.”

Before DOGE’s investigation, the American public had little awareness that unelected bureaucrats were running what amounted to a secret slush fund, funneling billions into leftist initiatives worldwide.
According to The Daily Caller, USAID has been found funding programs such as:
- A $2 million grant for sex-change procedures in Guatemala
- $500,000 for LGBT inclusion in Serbian workplaces
- $70,000 for a DEI-themed musical in Ireland
- Funding for transgender clinics in Vietnam and India
- $46,000 for HIV care for transgender South Africans
- $1.5 million for South African children to “learn through play”
- $20,000 for an ambiguous “LGBT-related event” in Bulgaria
Former USAID Administrator Samantha Power even admitted that “a big pot of money” wasn’t enough for these programs.
In a decisive move, Trump effectively shut down USAID by folding it into the State Department and placing Secretary of State Marco Rubio as Acting Director. This restructuring ensures that USAID’s foreign aid spending will now be under close scrutiny whenever Republicans control the White House.
Democrats and the media are enraged, not because of any alleged executive overreach, but because their ability to use taxpayer money to fund political activism has been severely restricted. The era of unchecked government funds propping up global leftist movements may finally be coming to an end.
