This revelation sparked outrage among Democrats, who saw an opportunity to attack Musk as a proxy for Trump. In a theatrical protest outside the Treasury Department, leading Democratic lawmakers took turns ranting about the two men they despise most.
Waters, never one to hold back, unleashed a bizarre and fact-free tirade against Musk, accusing him of financial misconduct.
“We have got to tell Elon Musk that nobody elected you’re a**,” Waters ranted. “Nobody told you could get all of our private information. Nobody told you could be in charge of the payments of this country.”
Democrats have embraced an absurd conspiracy theory that Musk now has access to personal data like Social Security numbers and could somehow use it to commit financial fraud. Waters took it a step further, wildly alleging that Musk wanted to steal Americans’ paychecks to enrich himself.
“We have told you that you’ve made enough money off our government yourself, and now you want to take everybody else’s payroll and make sure that they don’t make the kind of money that you’ve made,” she continued. “Oh, you want to use our money to go to Mars.”
Not content with just attacking Musk, Waters turned her fury toward Trump, claiming that a group of billionaires was staging a government takeover.
“We’re in a crisis in this country because Trump and Elon Musk and the billionaires have decided they’re going to put us all in our place,” Waters declared. “They’re going to run this country. They’re going to make sure that they take over everything.”

Waters appeared particularly rattled by the rapid pace of Trump’s executive actions, a stark contrast to the Democrats’ slow-moving bureaucracy. While she once praised former President Barack Obama’s use of executive orders, she took a much harsher tone toward Trump for doing the same.
“Are we going to let them do that?” Waters asked. “Are we going to let them run this government in the way that they can make even more money and so they won’t stop? It is so brazen every day they’re taking new actions. They’re taking executive actions. Every day they’re doing something.”
Waters’ meltdown highlights the chaotic state of the Democratic Party at the start of Trump’s return to power. Without a clear strategy, they’ve been left grasping at straws, resorting to public outbursts and conspiracy theories in a desperate attempt to stay relevant.
For now, their only strategy seems to be letting Maxine Waters shout into the void while they wait for their next shot at power in Washington, D.C. But as Musk and Trump continue to dismantle wasteful government programs, it appears the Democrats’ rage will only intensify.
