RFK Jr. Scores MAJOR Win Before Hearing!

However, Whitehouse has remained tight-lipped about his current stance on Kennedy’s confirmation. “I’m not going to reveal how I’m voting [on] any nominee,” he told Politico last week. In another interview with Slate, Whitehouse hinted that his decision might depend on securing concessions from HHS, saying, “There’s a bunch of stuff that I want from HHS. So I’m going to hold my fire on that.”

The confirmation process for Kennedy is moving forward, with hearings scheduled before two key Senate committees. As Fox News reported, Kennedy will appear next week before the Senate Committee on Finance and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).

The Finance Committee, which oversees HHS, will kick off the hearings on Wednesday, followed by the HELP Committee’s session on Thursday. Ultimately, the Finance Committee’s decision will determine whether Kennedy’s nomination advances to a full Senate vote.

While Kennedy may gain support from at least one Democrat, some Republicans remain skeptical. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, a Republican, expressed reservations about Kennedy’s previous comments on vaccines during an interview with Fox News Sunday. Cassidy’s spokesperson refrained from revealing his vote, stating, “Cassidy does not discuss his votes prior to meetings with the nominees and the Senate process playing itself out.”

Cassidy plans to meet with Kennedy to discuss these concerns, with the spokesperson adding, “He looks forward to having a good dialogue with him.”

Meanwhile, Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley highlighted another contentious topic: Kennedy’s views on agriculture. “He’s made some statements about pigs and about GMO corn and soybeans. I can’t believe that he’s going to have a problem with that. But if he does, he has a problem with me,” Grassley told Fox.

Adding to the drama, an organization founded by former Vice President Mike Pence has launched a campaign urging GOP senators to reject Kennedy’s nomination. Pence opposes Kennedy over his past support for abortion.

In a letter to senators, Tim Chapman, president of Advancing American Freedom, and Marc Short, Pence’s former chief of staff, criticized Kennedy’s stance on abortion. “Whatever the merits of RFK Jr’s Make America Healthy Again initiative—indeed, whatever other qualities a nominee might possess—an HHS Secretary must have a firm commitment to protect unborn children,” the letter stated.

This marks Pence’s second attempt to derail Kennedy’s confirmation. After Trump announced Kennedy’s nomination, Pence publicly urged senators to vote against him, citing his evolving views on abortion policy.

Kennedy, who initially launched a 2024 presidential bid as a Democrat, has struggled to define his stance on abortion. While he once endorsed a ban after the first trimester, he later backtracked, opposing bans before fetal viability, typically around 24 weeks of pregnancy.

As Kennedy prepares for his hearings, the battle lines are being drawn. With potential support from one Democrat and resistance from Republicans, the outcome of his nomination remains uncertain. However, one thing is clear: RFK Jr.’s confirmation bid is shaping up to be a defining moment in Washington, highlighting the deep divides within both parties and across the nation.
