“One of the most simple things that we can do is just not comply,” she stated. “This today, the Trump administration, and also last night, the Trump administration signed a bunch of illegal executive orders.”
Her primary grievance centers on Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship, a right enshrined in the Constitution. She didn’t mince words, accusing the president of attacking the nation’s founding principles.
“It is, day one, already trying to shred the foundational documents of American society and try to end birthright citizenship, which basically, as we know, if you are born in the United States, you are a United States citizen,” she explained.
“That remains. That is the law. That is the Constitution,” AOC emphasized. “And he just tried to sign a piece of paper trying to say, no, we don’t have to listen to him. It’s illegal. We don’t have to treat this seriously. It’s a joke.”
While she acknowledged the seriousness of Trump’s agenda, AOC called on her followers to resist compliance. “That’s not to say that what they’re trying to do isn’t serious. It is serious. But we should not consent in advance,” she warned.

This is far from the first time AOC has voiced her disdain for Trump. Just last week, she accused the president of aligning with major tech billionaires to consolidate power, pointing to efforts by figures like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg to navigate Trump’s return to power.
“So what does this mean for us?” she asked in the video. “Well, we are on the eve of an authoritarian administration. This is what 21st-century fascism is starting to look like.”

AOC also lamented what she described as the “right-wing takeover” of mass social media platforms, a claim she linked to Trump’s approach to a possible TikTok ban. Her rhetoric underscores the growing divide between progressives and the current administration, as the left struggles to counter the policies now taking shape in Washington.
Critics of AOC have dismissed her calls for resistance as reckless, with some warning that her words could embolden unrest and undermine the rule of law. Supporters, however, view her as a champion for democratic principles, unafraid to speak out against policies she believes threaten fundamental rights.
With Trump’s first week back in office already making headlines for its bold initiatives, the stage is set for intense political battles ahead. AOC’s defiance is likely only the beginning of what promises to be a contentious and polarizing chapter in American politics.
