In a move that could redefine the aftermath of January 6, over 100 incarcerated individuals have joined forces to file a groundbreaking $50 billion class-action lawsuit against the Department of Justice (DOJ). This historic legal effort, spearheaded by Jake Lang, a high-profile January 6 defendant, accuses the DOJ of politically motivated persecution, unlawful detention, and systemic denial of constitutional rights.
The lawsuit, slated to be filed on January 20, 2025, takes aim at what the plaintiffs describe as a “weaponized justice system” targeting conservatives. Lang, who has been imprisoned for nearly four years, argues the federal authorities have selectively enforced laws, disproportionately punishing those associated with right-wing ideologies. According to Lang, many of these individuals were exercising their First Amendment rights when they participated in the Capitol protests.
