“Well, I did have a very long, lengthy discussion with Pete yesterday, and I do appreciate his service to the nation,” Ernst told Fox News. “I also am a combat veteran, so we talked about a number of those issues, and we will continue with the vetting process. I think that that is incredibly important. So again, all I’m saying is we had a very frank and productive discussion and I know that we will continue to have conversation in the upcoming months.”
Ernst further elaborated, emphasizing the Senate’s duty to carefully vet nominees: “I think for a number of our senators, they want to make sure that any allegations have been cleared, and that’s why we have to have a very thorough vetting process.”

Brenna Bird’s op-ed was as much a defense of Trump’s choice as it was an indictment of what she described as Washington insiders trying to thwart the will of voters. Bird pointed to Trump’s decisive win in Iowa and the nationwide mandate for change.
“Iowans have made their voice clear,” Bird wrote. “In recent days, it’s become clear that D.C. politicians think they can ignore the voices of their constituents and entertain smears from the same outlets that have pushed out lies for years.”
She continued: “When voters select a president, they are selecting that president’s vision for a cabinet that will enact his agenda. On November 5, America voted for change, and for Washington to work for America – not the other way around.”
Bird warned that ongoing opposition to Hegseth’s nomination is emblematic of a larger effort by entrenched interests to block Trump’s reform agenda. “What we’re witnessing in Washington right now is a Deep State attempt to undermine the will of the people,” she wrote. “We must not let Washington kill nominations before the Constitutional confirmation process even begins.”
Bird underscored the importance of Trump’s cabinet in fulfilling campaign promises, from securing the border to boosting economic prosperity. “Trump campaigned on delivering much-needed reform to Washington D.C. Tens of millions of Americans went into the ballot box, sick of paying taxes year after year, just to see the government fail to deliver on its responsibility,” she wrote.
What are the best concealed carry holsters for ultimate security?
Bird concluded with a rallying cry for senators to honor the voices of their constituents: “The president’s cabinet is essential to delivering on the president’s agenda. The American people have spoken, and our elected D.C. lawmakers should listen.”
As President-elect Trump prepares to take office in January, his administration’s ability to deliver on campaign promises hinges on swift action in the Senate. Early votes on key cabinet members like Pete Hegseth will set the tone for Trump’s first term and determine the pace of his reform agenda.
The coming weeks will test whether Republicans in the Senate can close ranks and push through critical confirmations—or if internal divisions will derail Trump’s plans before they even begin.

Joni Ernst has not gained my respect. Despite serving in the armed forces, she ignored knowledge and commonsense her service time would have given her. She vocalized sentiment wrongly as a Senator and is doing it now with Hegseth. When Biden, Harris had a huge transport planes loaded in Afghanistan with 900+ people, they were not vetted, just loaded to take to a US military base in Wisconsin. Citizens were upset and Ernst responded, saying they were Americans and our Afghani Aides of our military there. Aides were usually interpreters or guides. She declared the 900 to be composed of that mix, Americans and Aides, WITHOUT KNOWING SO, and that needed to do everything possible for them, based on their service to America.
When they landed at the Wisc base, a panicky plea had been issued that they desperately needed translators to help, as none of those arriving KNEW ANY ENGLISH. That should have struck home with any soldier who’d served in the Middle East. EVERY adult passenger on that flight would have been English speakers, be they Aides who INTERPRETED for our soldiers, or GUIDED THEM, plus obviously the “Americans”. That was the tell re her lack of knowledge and commonsense. 900 unvetted AFGHANIS were the only ones that came, be some Taliban or ISIS terrorists was unknown. Did Ernst retracts her position or comment? NO. ANY soldier with half a brain, having served in the area and worked with actual Aides, would have heard the warning sirens she continued to support. SHE DID NOT. Lost my trust in her abilities and intelligence right then. She still supported we owed them so much for all they’d done for us. When actually that was zero. When the Wisc base decided to allow them time off base, to return in the evening, many military aged men did so. And most NEVER RETURNED TO THE BASE, EVER. DIsappeared, no one knowing where they were. But they’re SOMEWHERE in the US. The chance that there were Taliban and ISIS terrorists aboard that plane increased massively. Did she tell anyone here the importance of finding those men? NO. As a retired soldier who should have her instincts and wits about her, she didn’t, or ignored them, causing RISK to America and Americans. Acting like that as a soldier in the Middle East could cause loss of life. Same here.
I not only don’t trust her capacities and opinions re a military pick, if I was in Iowa and she says things like she’ll have conversations over the next few MONTHS with Hegseth, she is ignoring the essence of the short time limitation. She ignored her AG sharing the importance of Cabinet approval ASAP, and that their positions start JAN 20 and they need time for planning. Plus the Deep Staters want to do everything possible to slow or block Trumps agenda and plans. She should know that.SHE DOESN’T HAVE the leisure of MONTHS OF CONVERSATION TIME. Decisions have to be made. If Hegseth isn’t approved, then another nominee needs to be brought forward, and she might not like them any better. They has a FRIENDSHIP with Deep State RINOS Collins and Murkowsky is not a good thing, plus her poor decisions on various things.
She needs to be primaried and hopefully replaced.
Her judgemental is questionable at best, yet she votes and makes decisions as a Senator.
Correction: The fact that SHE has a friendship with Deep State RINOS Collins and Murkowsky .. .. ..
