An assistant district attorney in Alvin Bragg’s office was robbed in a shocking incident this week, an ironic turn of events for a prosecutor working under a district attorney who famously pledged to avoid prosecuting certain violent crimes.
The unnamed female attorney was reportedly mugged in her own apartment building, located on 44th Street in midtown Manhattan, after she encountered Brandon Simosa, a 25-year-old with a troubling criminal background. Simosa, described as lewd and aggressive, was caught engaging in inappropriate behavior on the ground floor of the building. According to the New York Post, Simosa forced the attorney to escort him to her apartment, where he stole her phone before fleeing the scene. It wasn’t long before police apprehended him.

Simosa was arrested near the Row Hotel migrant shelter, a taxpayer-funded facility housing hundreds of new arrivals, some with known links to international criminal organizations. Law enforcement sources later revealed that Simosa has ties to Tren de Aragua, a notorious Venezuelan gang with a presence across multiple U.S. states. Fox News has reported that the group has expanded into 16 states and has been implicated in violent crimes, including murder. When Simosa was led out of a New York City precinct, he appeared unrepentant, smirking and making loud noises for the cameras.
