WATCH: DeSantis Slams Kamala Over Relief Scam!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Harris’ comments sparked a firestorm, with many questioning DeSantis’ leadership during such a critical moment. However, the Florida governor wasted no time in countering these accusations. Speaking at a press conference shortly after the report was published, DeSantis made it clear that he was unaware of any attempted contact from Harris. “No, I didn’t know she called me. I saw [the report], but I was not aware of that,” DeSantis said, flatly denying the claim.

ABC News also implied that DeSantis was ducking calls from President Biden, suggesting a broader political feud between the two leaders. However, DeSantis was quick to debunk that narrative as well. He explained that Biden had contacted him during Hurricane Helene, another storm that had recently hit the area, and there were no issues with communication at that time. “So Biden called me a couple days ago with Helene when I was on the helicopter. I didn’t have any issues. They had helped us with what we’ve done. I’m not aware that he’s tried to call since then. Certainly hasn’t called my phone so I don’t know quite where they’re getting that information,” DeSantis explained.

The governor went on to assure the public that Florida has received all the necessary federal approvals for hurricane relief. “At the same time we got the approvals that we need. If there’s something else that we need, you know, I’ll hop on the phone very quickly whether that’s a FEMA administrator or the president and we will press the case to be able to get approvals for what we need in Florida, but we have gotten approvals for everything that we’ve asked for,” DeSantis confirmed.

The heart of the issue lies in ABC News’ portrayal of the governor’s response and the suggestion that DeSantis was avoiding vital communication with top federal leaders. However, the governor strongly refuted those claims, calling the entire framing of the situation “false and inaccurate.” He clarified that any portrayal of him avoiding calls or playing politics in this time of crisis is untrue. “I didn’t know that she had called so I’m not sure who they called. They didn’t call me and their characterization of it was something that they did wasn’t anything that anybody in my office did in terms of saying that it was political,” DeSantis emphasized.

As Hurricane Milton barrels toward Florida, DeSantis’ focus remains on the safety and recovery of his state. In moments of crisis, the political rhetoric often takes center stage, but Governor DeSantis has made it clear that his priority is the welfare of Floridians, not partisan squabbles. His rebuttal of the ABC News report is just the latest chapter in a series of political battles the governor has faced, but in the face of a natural disaster, DeSantis remains focused on what he was elected to do: lead his state through the storm.

As Florida braces for Hurricane Milton, the nation watches closely to see how this political clash plays out in the larger context of disaster relief and response. But for now, DeSantis is ensuring that Floridians get the support they need, regardless of the political noise surrounding him.
