Trump Meets Zelensky: “Time to End This War!”

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Earlier in the week, Trump had shared a message from Ukraine’s Deputy Ambassador on his Truth Social platform, reinforcing the urgency for peace talks. The message, which was written by Zelensky, highlighted the importance of close communication between the two leaders. Zelensky’s message read:

“Dear Donald, I hope you’re doing well. I recall our recent phone call – it was really good. All of us in Ukraine want to end this war with a just peace. And we know that without America this is impossible to achieve. That’s why we have to strive to understand each other and remain in close contact.”

Zelensky expressed his desire for a personal meeting with Trump, emphasizing the need for 100% understanding between them. The Ukrainian leader continued, “Days ago, we requested a meeting with you, and I really want to hear your thoughts directly, and firsthand. I believe it’s important for us to have a personal contact and to understand each other 100%.”

In a reflective moment, Trump praised Zelensky for his support during the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry in 2019, which was centered around a phone call between the two leaders. “I don’t even know if you know this, but when they did the impeachment hoax—it was a hoax, just a Democrat hoax—which we won. But one of the reasons we won it so easily is that when the President [Zelensky] was asked, it was over a phone call with the President [Zelensky], and he could have grandstanded and played cute, but he didn’t do that. He said, ‘President Trump did absolutely nothing wrong.’”

Trump explained that Zelensky’s firm stance during the impeachment inquiry was crucial to Trump’s defense, adding, “He said it loud and clear, and the impeachment hoax died right there.”

Trump’s focus during the meeting was on achieving a “just peace” for Ukraine, a goal he emphasized during their conversation. “We had a very nice call… He could have played cute, and he didn’t play cute, so I appreciated that. So we have a very good relationship,” Trump said, acknowledging the bond he shares with Zelensky.

In a previous phone conversation in July, Trump had spoken with Zelensky about seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict. According to sources, the conversation went “exceedingly well,” with Trump reportedly pledging to help bring peace to Ukraine should he win the election.

Trump took to Truth Social after the call, confirming his commitment to peace. “I, as your next President of the United States, will bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives and devastated countless innocent families,” Trump posted. He promised to negotiate a deal that would allow “both sides to come together” and end the violence.

Throughout the conflict, Trump has voiced strong opposition to the billions in U.S. military aid sent to Ukraine, calling for European nations to contribute more. He raised this issue again, stating that European countries need to take greater responsibility for helping Ukraine. Trump previously remarked, “Why isn’t Europe giving more money to help Ukraine? Why is it that the United States is over $100 Billion Dollars into the Ukraine War more than Europe, and we have an Ocean between us as separation!”

Trump has maintained that the United States has shouldered an outsized burden, questioning why Europe hasn’t matched America’s financial contributions. He also noted, “As everyone agrees, Ukrainian Survival and Strength should be much more important to Europe than to us, but it is also important to us! GET MOVING EUROPE!”

Trump’s criticism extends to the current administration, which he holds responsible for the outbreak of the war. “If I were President, this War would have never started!” Trump declared, placing the blame on “Crooked Joe Biden and the Incompetent Democrats.”

As the U.S. presidential election looms closer, Trump is positioning himself as the leader who can finally end the war in Ukraine. His meeting with Zelensky signals a potential diplomatic shift, with Trump confident in his ability to leverage his relationships with world leaders to secure peace.

Time will tell whether Trump’s vision for resolving the conflict will resonate with voters and whether his promises will bring an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine.
