North Carolina Lieutenant Governor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson has announced his intention to pursue legal action against CNN following a recent report linking him to offensive comments allegedly made on an adult website. In what is shaping up to be a fiery legal battle, Robinson is accusing CNN of launching a smear campaign designed to tarnish his reputation and damage his chances in the upcoming election.
“We absolutely are [taking action],” Robinson confirmed in a Monday interview. “We’re in talks right now, everything up to legal counsel to take CNN to task for what they have done to us. We are going after them. We are going to go after them for what they’ve done.”

The controversy stems from a CNN KFile report which claims that Robinson, using the online username “minisoldr,” posted derogatory and lewd comments on an adult website more than a decade ago. According to the report, these comments include racially charged remarks and endorsements of extreme positions. CNN alleges that these statements contradict Robinson’s current platform as a conservative candidate, raising questions about his integrity.
