Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is facing intense criticism after her outburst over a political cartoon that poked fun at a recent incident involving Hezbollah’s use of pagers. The explosion of communication devices reportedly used by Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon sparked the cartoon, which drew the ire of AOC, who labeled it as “Islamophobic.”
Earlier this week, a series of explosions rocked Hezbollah-controlled areas in southern Beirut and other parts of Lebanon. According to Reuters, the explosions took place on Tuesday, causing widespread panic in the region. More than 4,000 individuals, primarily Hezbollah operatives, were injured in the blasts, which lasted over an hour.

The devices involved were reportedly the latest models used by Hezbollah for communication in their ongoing conflict with Israel. Security sources confirmed that Israel was suspected of having played a role in sabotaging the devices, with reports suggesting that the Jewish state had a hand in manufacturing the pagers. The incident was followed by another attack, in which walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members were also targeted, resulting in 14 deaths and hundreds more injuries.
