Two IRS agents who brought forward explosive claims about the Biden Department of Justice’s handling of the Hunter Biden investigation have now filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit. The agents, Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, accuse Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, of launching a retaliatory campaign against them after they exposed what they saw as misconduct in the investigation.
The lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C., claims that Lowell acted with “clear malice” in his public comments about the whistleblowers. Shapley and Ziegler’s legal complaint highlights their commitment to “honor and integrity” in their roles and asserts that they were following the law when they made disclosures about conflicts of interest and political bias in the Department of Justice’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes.

Shapley and Ziegler, who had been deeply involved in the Hunter Biden probe, claim that they revealed important details about how the Department of Justice was allegedly slow-walking the investigation. According to the lawsuit, they exposed what they believed to be “preferential treatment” and political motivations that obstructed a proper examination of the president’s son. They say they were only doing their duty as public servants by making these whistleblower disclosures.
