In a significant political development, former President Donald Trump has reclaimed his lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the latest New York Times/Siena College poll. The two-way contest between Trump and Harris shows a tight race, but Trump is now leading by a single point, with 48% of voters supporting him compared to 47% backing Harris. In a race that includes candidates from both parties, Trump’s advantage extends slightly, with the former president sitting at 47% versus Harris’s 45%.
The race is proving to be a close contest, but enthusiasm among Trump voters is outpacing that of Harris’s supporters. A staggering 97% of Trump voters from the 2020 election have pledged to back him again in November, while only 2% have shifted away. Harris is also holding firm with Biden’s 2020 base, with 92% of Biden voters saying they’ll back her. Yet, her numbers fall short compared to Trump’s voter loyalty, and 6% of Biden voters have decided not to support Harris this time around.
