Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard recently appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” where she firmly rebuked the network’s host, Dana Bash, for spreading what she described as “false claims” about former President Donald Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery. The visit, which took place on August 26th, was alongside Gold Star Families and has since sparked widespread media controversy, with mainstream outlets accusing Trump of using the solemn occasion for political purposes. Gabbard, who ran for president as a Democrat in 2020 before leaving the party, did not hold back in her criticism.
During her appearance, Gabbard challenged Bash’s insinuation that Trump had used the visit to Arlington as a political photo op. She clarified that Trump’s presence at the cemetery was not a campaign stunt but a moment to honor fallen American heroes. “I checked with the campaign on this question, and they have exchanges with the officials at Arlington Cemetery. They were approved to bring a camera there to document this historic and momentous day that should not be forgotten by any American,” Gabbard said.

Gabbard, who served on Trump’s transition team, emphasized that the former president’s team had received permission from Arlington officials to document the event. According to her, Trump was fully “approved” to be at the site, and the staffers who recorded the ceremony were acting within the guidelines provided by the cemetery’s administration. “Trump’s team had ‘exchanges’ with Arlington officials and staffers were given permission to ‘bring a camera,’” she reiterated, citing information from the Daily Caller.
