Vance (R-OH) has thrown down the gauntlet by accepting not one, but two Vice Presidential debate invitations, challenging Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) to join him in front of the American people twice before the November election. This unexpected move is seen as a high-stakes gambit as the election looms less than 80 days away.
Tim Walz, who has accepted CBS News’ invitation for an October 1st Vice Presidential debate in New York City, took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm his participation. “See you on October 1, JD,” Walz wrote, setting the stage for what promises to be a fierce showdown.

However, in a move that caught many by surprise, J.D. Vance responded with a challenge of his own. Not only did Vance agree to the CBS debate on October 1st, but he also accepted CNN’s proposed Vice Presidential debate on September 18th, daring Walz to meet him on both occasions. “The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already. Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!” Vance declared.
