Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is no stranger to controversy, often finding himself at the center of public criticism for stretching the truth on significant matters, including his military record and the management of his state’s Black Lives Matter protests. However, his latest questionable claims about his culinary preferences have sparked a new wave of skepticism and ridicule.
The incident in question began when Walz, who is currently serving as the vice-presidential nominee, released a social media video in which he converses with Vice President Kamala Harris about his so-called “white guy tacos,” a dish he described as being devoid of any hot spices. When Harris, curious about the term, asked, “What does that mean, like mayonnaise and tuna?” Walz responded with a sheepish grin, saying, “Pretty much ground beef and cheese.” Harris pressed further, asking if he uses any flavor at all, to which Walz replied, “Uh, no… Black pepper is the top of the spice level in Minnesota.” The two continued their discussion, shifting to “food knowledge” and Harris’s passion for growing peppers at the White House, clearly intending to present a more relatable and down-to-earth image to younger voters.

However, the internet was quick to catch on to a glaring contradiction in Walz’s statements. Not too long ago, the Governor had proudly boasted about his ability to craft spicy dishes. In fact, just over two years ago, Walz had taken to social media to showcase his award-winning recipe for “Turkey Taco Tot Hotdish.” This inconsistency did not go unnoticed, with Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec being among the first to call out the discrepancy. “This you?” Posobiec replied to Walz shortly after the video with Harris was released, drawing attention to the governor’s apparent fib.
