A recent social media video showed an orderly scenario in an otherwise peaceful New York park that was home to a temporary migrant camp.
The New York Post reports that when police tried to make an arrest on Randall’s Island on Thursday, they were surrounded by an angry group of immigrants, many of whom have been living there for more than a year.

Now, the island’s soccer fields, located just east of Manhattan across the Harlem River, are home to makeshift structures packed with mattresses.
One of those buildings was the scene of an assault on New York City Police Department officers on Thursday.
Officers could be seen attempting to arrest an obstinate individual in videos that LLN NYC shared on social media.
The cops were encircled by a sizable, yelling mob as they attempted to apprehend a resisting subject.
Shortly after the video began, a female NYPD officer was almost knocked off balance after being smacked by a bag that had been thrown at her.
