Thursday night, presenter Stephen Colbert of “The Late Show” delivered a biting monologue criticizing former President Donald Trump’s myriad legal troubles, calling it “an insane day for America.”

The “comedian” attacked Trump for being in an unprecedented position where he is being tried for several crimes at once. “In light of all that, I’d like to make a brief public service announcement. This is f* up.”

In his monologue, Colbert explored the oddities of Trump’s legal journey, emphasizing the prosecutor’s love interest in the Georgia case—a subplot that Colbert likened to a soap opera.

“I know how numb we’ve become, but it’s not normal. No other candidate for the presidency has ever had to pause his campaign to defend himself in multiple courts,” Colbert ranted.

“I would like to point out that in all seven of his cases, no one, no one doubts that he did these things. We’re just sitting around patiently waiting to find out if the wheels of justice will And the media is covering it like it’s any other political story, like it’s all horse race. But in this horse race, one of the horses is old.”

Trump continues to lead in the polls as the nominee for president in November, notwithstanding the criticism. A recent Emerson College poll indicates that Trump has 45% of the vote, Biden has 44%, and 11% of people are unsure.

In hypothetical comparisons, Trump has a 46% edge over California Governor Gavin Newsom’s 36% and Vice President Kamala Harris’s 43%. With 45% of the vote to 33% for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Trump is ahead of Whitmer, with 22% of voters still undecided.

Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision on Friday dealt a severe blow to Trump’s legal career, ordering him to pay over $350 million and barring him from doing business in New York State for three years.
