Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, has come under fire for allegedly releasing people who had assaulted an NYPD officer without posting bail, which incited strong public outrage. Four individuals connected to the assault have reportedly boarded a bus headed for California with the intention of fleeing to Mexico, according to the New York Post.
In his first public remarks on the event, Bragg discussed the attack on two policemen on January 27 near an illegal immigrant refuge on Saturday.

“In Manhattan, we don’t tolerate or accept assaults on police officers. I watched the tape this week. Despicable behavior. It sickened me and outraged me,” He stated. When questioned about the release of four persons without bail—guys who the authorities have recognized as illegal aliens—Bragg stated his office lacked the necessary documentation.
“While the video is shocking and disturbing, in order to secure convictions in a court of law, it is essential that we conclusively identify each defendant,” he said.
When the attack happened, the police were trying to scatter a rowdy group of people outside an illegal immigrant refuge, according to NYPD officials. “In a court of law, our profound obligation is to make sure we have right people charged with the right crimes. I don’t think New Yorkers want to charge the wrong person,” Bragg informed reporters.
Authorities are still looking for more individuals connected to the attack. Already, seven people have been charged for charges such as obstructing and assaulting an officer.

Four defendants may have left the city by boarding a bus bound for California, according to the New York Post. They allegedly gave bogus identities to a charity organization connected to a church that helps illegal immigrants and asylum seekers leave the city.
