Ohio’s East Palestine In a recent Fox interview, Mayor Trent Conaway reiterated his criticism of President Joe Biden’s handling of the poisonous explosion, sticking to his former remarks regarding the event that happened nearly a year ago.
Following the event, Mayor Conaway made a hilarious remark suggesting that February 2025 would be the best time for President Biden to visit East Palestine. The implication of the statement was that, rather than meeting the urgent needs of the community following the catastrophe, such a visit would be more appropriate for a book tour in the event that Trump won.

“The best time for Biden to visit would be February 2025 when he’s on his book tour,” Conaway said in January.
In a recent interview with Kelly Severi on Fox Business, Mayor Conaway went over his previous remarks. The Mayor reaffirmed his views with vigor when questioned about his earlier remarks, highlighting his deep dissatisfaction with the present government.
“I 100% stand by the comment about the book tour. I think that’s the best time for him personally,” Conaway said. “I think the best time for him to come would have been whenever this happened.”
WATCH:
The hazardous explosion in East Palestine, which raised urgent concerns about health, safety, and environmental effects, is the source of Mayor Conaway’s dispute with Biden. Following the incident, community leaders and citizens demanded greater direct involvement and support from federal and state authorities due to the attention surrounding their reaction.
Conaway’s first outreach to Joe Biden, which was sent via letter one month following the event, was intended to encourage government engagement. Nonetheless, the White House’s seeming lack of tangible action has made the Mayor’s public displays of dissatisfaction more evident.
Conaway was instrumental in the reaction to the February 2023 Norfolk Southern train disaster. Regarding the reaction and assistance provided to the impacted neighborhood, he has been vocal in his criticism of and demands for answers from government officials and Norfolk Southern, the accountable corporation.
The government reaction to the disaster of the Norfolk Southern train was criticized as being both inadequate and delayed by the Biden administration. Conaway and other local authorities were among the many critics who often voiced their dissatisfaction with the lack of prompt action taken to address the short- and long-term effects of the incident, which contained hazardous goods and presented serious hazards to public health, safety, and the environment.
The impacted neighborhood felt more neglected as a result of the administration’s active involvement and postponed high-profile visits. On the other hand, it was a deliberate decision by President Donald Trump to visit the town before to his inauguration. At a GOP dinner with Eric Trump, Mayor Conaway supported Trump just one month after the incident.

“I haven’t had the occasion to go to East Palestine yet, there’s a lot going on here and I just haven’t been able to break,” Back in September, Biden stated.
“I was thinking I’d go to East Palestine this week, but then I was reminded that I’ve literally got to go around the world. I’m going from Washington to India to Vietnam to… and so it’s going to be wild,”
stated the president, who went on to say that he was “making sure” the Ohio community has the supplies it needed to withstand the catastrophe.
