Former House Speaker and authority on successful Republican messaging, Newt Gingrich, is advising former President Trump to emulate him by selecting a rising star from the House to be his running mate. After forty years, Republican control of the House was made possible by Gingrich’s successful “Contract with America” policy. He now feels that Trump ought to take a similar populist stance.
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) should be a top contender for President Donald Trump’s ticket if he wants to win another term in office. Gingrich made this recommendation after highlighting Stefanik’s persuasive response to Harvard, MIT, and UPenn university professors about the problem of growing antisemitism on campuses.

“I’m a very big fan of Elise’s. Certainly, if there is a short list for vice president, she should be on it,” Gingrich said.
“I absolutely believe that she has sort of fought her way onto the national stage and I hope that she will continue to grow and develop and certainly my advice to the president would certainly be to consider her on whatever short list he develops for potential vice presidential nominees,” he added.
Representative Stefanik said she would be honored to work with the 45th president and that she would be willing to do so during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday.
Harvard-educated Stefanik is a Republican with broad appeal in crucial areas where President Trump needs to win the next election. In 2014, at the age of thirty, she was able to secure her first term. She speaks to suburban women in a district that President Joe Biden won handily in 2020 because she is a young mother.
Last month, Harvard President Claudine Gay and UPenn President Elizabeth Magill resigned due to pressure from Rep. Stefanik after they provided conflicting statements about calls for the eradication of the Jewish people. The fact that Stefanik persisted in questioning the witnesses allowed them time to second-guess their statements before deciding to stick with them, which ultimately contributed to their resignations. Students, faculty, and donors are incensed about this double standard because they find it unacceptable that Palestinian supporters who engage in overt antisemitism are treated with such mercy.
Rep. Stefanik has been forced to make a firm commitment following Gay’s resignation, which was brought on by an investigation into plagiarism in her academic record. She promises to work tirelessly to remove each of the three presidents in question.
