Important documents pertaining to a noteworthy email have been obtained by Judicial Watch from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The email was addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter on May 26, 2016. It describes getting ready for a 9 a.m. phone conversation with the president of Ukraine, which comes after an 8:45 a.m. briefing.

The email was sent in response to a lawsuit filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) against the National Archives by Judicial Watch. The lawsuit sought communications and records pertaining to the Biden family, including their travel and financial activities, as well as their relationships with different business associates.
In August 2023, Republican from Kentucky and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer formally requested information from the National Archives about the responsibilities of then-Vice President Joe Biden that coincided with his son’s travels in Ukraine. Chairman Comer is especially interested in any correspondence involving Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, Eric Schwerin, or Joe Biden using an alias.

Judicial Watch has sued under the Freedom of Information Act almost a dozen times in an effort to get documents about Biden’s wrongdoing.
Out of 8,000 records, the Archives provided 1,276 pages in March 2023 regarding the historic document dispute and search at the former president Trump’s home.
Judicial Watch brought legal action against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in October 2022. The lawsuit requests all correspondence between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Secret Service concerning the search warrant that was carried out at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida on August 8, 2022.
Judicial Watch sued the Barak Obama Presidential Library in October to obtain documents linked to the 2016 “Russia Collusion Hoax.” The Library is a part of the National Archives system, and the data it contains were not made available to the public under FOIA until five years after President Obama’s departure.
