The most recent poll gives Kari Lake, the former Republican candidate for Arizona governor, cause for celebration. According to the poll, she will have a significant lead over her Republican rivals in the next U.S. primary. Currently holding the Senate seat is Senator Kyrsten Sinema, an Independent who was formerly a Democrat.
In the contest for the Arizona Republican Party’s presidential nomination, Lake is pulling away. Senate, with a decisive 26-point advantage, per a recent NPI survey that the Arizona Sun-Times reported.

Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb is second with 14% of the vote, behind the former broadcaster from the Phoenix area who leads with a solid 40%. There is a notable plus or minus 5.25% margin of error.
“Former U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters also received 10 percent of support, but he has since declared he will instead mount a campaign for the House seat being vacated by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08) at the end of her term. NPI founder Mike Noble noted Masters’ decision, and stated that ‘Lake is likely to benefit the most’ from his share of the vote,” The Sun-Times added to its report.
“An additional 4 percent of respondents said they would vote for businessman Brian Wright, while 33 percent said they were undecided,” the outlet added.
Lake has garnered a noteworthy endorsement.
Republican senator from Wyoming, Sen. John Barrasso, has endorsed Lake’s effort to win back the Republican Senate seat in Arizona. Lake hopes to flip at least one of the state’s Senate seats back to red after two straight blue wins. Sinema won her seat in 2018 after defeating Martha McSally, and last year, Trump-backed Masters lost to Democratic incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly by a 51.4 percent to 46.5 percent margin.
“Joe Biden’s policies have crushed Arizona. Arizonans are dealing with record inflation – up 20 percent under the Biden administration. Arizona is also on the front lines of the worst illegal immigration crisis in American history. Nearly 8 million illegal immigrants under Biden, equal to the population of Arizona,” Barrasso said in a statement, per Fox News. “The U.S. Senate needs a Senator from Arizona that understands these issues, and will fight hard to solve them.”
In a statement to the outlet, Lake showed her gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and support.

“[Barrasso] is a tested and proven conservative leader who I greatly admire. I look forward to working with Senator Barrasso to get America back on track and fire Chuck Schumer,” she made more notes.

It was a big moment last Tuesday when former President Donald Trump endorsed Lake during her campaign launch. Still, Barrasso’s endorsement is a significant step forward for her, since her goal is to win over establishment Republicans. All of this is a part of her plan to mobilize support for what is anticipated to be one of the most contentious elections of 2024.
Prior to getting her support, Lake visited Capitol Hill and had meetings with a number of senators, among them Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate from Kentucky. In her announcement speech, Lake hardly mentioned election fraud, even though it was a major factor in shaping her political persona following her loss in the Arizona gubernatorial race last year.
For the Republican nomination, Lake is competing against Mark Lamb, the sheriff of Pinal County. The eventual winner will then face Democratic Representative Ruben Gallego, who is most likely to receive his party’s candidacy.
The choice of Sinema to run for reelection is still unknown. But if she does, that will start an exciting three-way race that Democrats aren’t exactly excited to watch. Sinema, Democratic Representative Reuben Gallego, and the eventual GOP nominee would compete in the race.

“Some Arizona Democrats expect Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will support Gallego, even if behind the scenes, noting the animosity many in the party feel toward Sinema, especially after she switched to an independent last year, and her electoral prospects,” The Hill reported.
“But other members of the party believe that calculus is not as simple and say Senate Democrats will need to proceed cautiously, given she still caucuses with the party in the upper chamber, where Democrats have a narrow majority,” the outlet said.
