As Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, testified in court on Monday, shocking details emerged as he described a terrifying home invasion that nearly ended his life. He had been making a valiant effort for months to forget this incident.
Paul Pelosi reassures jurors in a powerful testimony that he was at home and sleeping on the fatal night of October 28, 2022. He had no idea that the quiet night would be shattered by an unexpected visit from David DePape, who made a firm demand for Nancy Pelosi’s location.

“He burst in the door, and that wakes me up,” Pelosi gave a jury testimony. “Where’s Nancy?” the house invader said as he stood in the doorway of the bedroom. As Paul Pelosi remembered.
“I have not discussed this incident with anybody. I’ve tried to put it out of my mind. I made the best effort I possibly can to not re-live this.”
In front of an astounded courtroom, Mr. Pelosi explained how, while knowing he was in “serious danger,” he made an effort to maintain “as calm as possible” and heard DePape reportedly declare, “I’m going to have to take you out.”
DePape was notified that his wife was in Washington, and arrangements to flee were made right away. One possible solution was to utilize the elevator in the house.
He testified, “I realized that it was a very serious situation. The first thing I tried to do was get up and try to get to the elevator, because if I can get in the elevator, there’s a phone in the elevator, and I could close the door so he couldn’t get to me. I walked toward the elevator, but he blocked me.”
“Then I got the idea. I went over to my bathroom because I always leave my cellphone in my bathroom. I dialed 911,” Mr. Pelosi continued, recounting how he was able to get a coded message through to dispatchers, which led to the arrival of police to the residence.
The hostage scenario was about to get rather serious.
The incident when DePape reportedly hit Mr. Pelosi in the skull with a hammer and rendered him unconscious was caught on tape by the body cams of the officers. He said that he woke up in a “pool of blood” not long after.

At a local hospital, where he was fighting for his life, Mr. Pelosi claimed the medics told him, “Don’t watch the news.”
A search warrant has been carried out by prosecutors at DePape’s Richmond, California, garage. Search engine results with terms like “Pelosi pig blood,” “Nancy Pelosi Family,” and a bookmark with the title “Nancy Pelosi San Francisco California” are among the evidence against the 42-year-old.
DePape, who is accused of taking part in the attempted murder and kidnapping of an elected person, continues to insist in his innocence despite the fact that he might get a life sentence.
