After being discovered setting off a fire alarm at the Cannon Office Building on Saturday, Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman has come under fire and is being ridiculed.
Bowman purposefully delayed a crucial vote that may have stopped a government shutdown with his childish behavior.
Despite admitting to setting off the alarm on Saturday night, Bowman adamantly refutes a widely accepted idea.
“I want to personally clear up confusion surrounding today’s events,” According to Bowman’s statement. “Today, as I was rushing to make a vote, I came to a door that is usually open for votes but would not open. I am embarrassed to admit that I activated the fire alarm, mistakenly thinking it would open the door.
“I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this caused.
“But I want to be very clear, this was not me, in any way, trying to delay any vote. It was the exact opposite — I was trying urgently to get to a vote, which I ultimately did and joined my colleagues in a bipartisan effort to keep our government open.”
Eventually, the troubled representative added: “My hope is that no one will make more of this than it was. I am working hard every day, including today, to do my job, to do it well, and deliver for my constituents.”
Senator Bowman, I recognize and respect your viewpoint. I’ll take your statements at their value and accept that you were not aware of the circumstances.

There are only two possibilities left, though, and neither one is a particularly glowing recommendation of the progressive “squad” member: Rep. Bowman is either aggressively blind or terribly dumb.
Why is Bowman deserving of such a negative evaluation?
Well… Just take a look at this widely shared photo of the door Bowman was attempting to “use,” which was taken by journalist John Bresnahan:
For someone who has never been a part of civilized society before, the above image is the typical representation of a door that is very obviously marked as a “Emergency Exit Only.”
Did Bowman truly not intend to interfere with the vote? It is unclear why he would want to postpone the continuing resolution even if he ultimately voted in support of it. Perhaps Bowman opted to play it safe since he already knew his fire alarm stunt wouldn’t succeed. If this was an honest error, it’s still a rather big one.
Bowman’s actions raise the following possibilities and issues if he truly had no evil or hidden motivations towards them.
- Bowman has never seen a fire alarm or emergency door — Does America really need a representative who is so sequestered in his echo chamber that he doesn’t recognize what most 4th graders would?
- Bowman can’t read — Wouldn’t this present its own can of worms for a sitting U.S. lawmaker?
- Bowman can’t see — Wouldn’t this also be an issue for a U.S. lawmaker?
- Bowman doesn’t care — Wouldn’t it be nice to have some Republicans with a backbone who’ll actually act against this nonsense?
Bowman may be the target of Republican action, which may result in anything from a reprimand to expulsion.
Bowman shouldn’t anticipate any action, since both Republicans and Democrats have been ineffectual and uninterested in Bowman for years.
Can we really trust a mature guy who can’t distinguish between a conventional door leading outdoors and a clearly marked fire and emergency exit? How can we trust him to make significant decisions that affect his constituency if he can’t even distinguish between two things?
He knew what he was doing! He just did not expect a camera to catch him at an emergency EXIT! He found out about the photo and developed this outlandish lie to cover his unlawful A$$! He needs to be expelled from the House, and then he needs to be jailed or a very, VERY heavy fine! People DIE, in their rush to escape a fire! Jail time! I would be jailed, so this adolescent jerk needs the same fate. OH wait, he’s a democrat! Never mind!
