With fans speculating about who would be on the short list, former President Donald Trump made a signal on Sunday that he is seriously contemplating including a female Republican on his ticket in the upcoming election. This suggests that the Republican front-runner is limiting his selection process.
In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, President Trump stated that he “likes the idea” of a female running for vice president this time around. He especially mentioned North Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who has been a steadfast backer of his during his first administration.
“I like the concept, but we’re going to pick the best person. But I do like the concept, yes,” When asked if he was leaning toward picking a woman, Trump said. Donald Trump added that does not “think too much about it.”
Gov. Noem backed him at a recent event, which Trump referred to as, “She’s been a great governor. She gave me a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement actually. And, you know, it’s been a very good state for me. And certainly, she’d be one of the people I’d consider, or for something else maybe. But we have a lot of people. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.”
